Thrusting machines

Thrusting sex machines, ranked by value

The classic sex machine: you lie back, it does the work. The trick is ignoring the motor wattage (the number shops love shouting about) and looking at the stroke, the mount, and the connector.

How I review: I don't test products hands-on. I go through the maker's specs, materials, warranty, and returns, then match each one to the people it suits. Yes, I earn a little if you buy through my links. No, it doesn't change who I say it's for. My review method.

What is the best thrusting sex machine?

The short answer: beginners should start with the Auxfun Basic, the cheapest proper machine here and one of the few with a published noise figure. If you want power and adjustable depth, the Hismith Premium 4.0 is the step up.

What is a thrusting machine?

A motor sits in a box or on a stand and drives a rod back and forth. Clip an attachment on the end, set the angle, pick a speed, and lie back. Some sit on the floor, some on a table, and the portable ones fold away.

If you'd rather be on top and in control with your hips, a ride-on saddle machine suits you better. Not sure which camp you're in? Start with the plain-English guide to every machine type.

Who thrusting machines suit, and who they don't

  • Great for: hands-free play, anal and vaginal penetration, people with limited mobility in their arms or wrists, and budgets from around $140.
  • Not great for: people who mainly want external stimulation (look at saddles or a wand), and anyone who can't secure a stable surface for the mount.

What to look for in the specs

  1. Stroke length. Short (under 2.5 in) for beginners and anal play. Adjustable if you want room to grow.
  2. Speed range. Look at the minimum as well as the maximum. A slow start is gentler.
  3. Mount. Suction cups are the weak point on budget machines. Weighted bases and adjustable arms hold steadier.
  4. Connector. KlicLok, 3XLR, or Vac-U-Lock decides which attachments fit.
  5. Power. Dual-voltage (110-240V) machines work worldwide with a plug adapter.

Don't buy this, buy that

Thinking about a $1,000 machine for your very first go? Try the Auxfun Basic first. If you love it, you'll know exactly which upgrades matter to you, and the Auxfun becomes a travel spare. If you already own Vac-U-Lock attachments, the Lovense Sex Machine takes them with its included adapters for less than the Doc Johnson Merci Power Banger.

Questions people are too shy to ask

What is a thrusting machine?

A thrusting machine is a motor on a stand that pushes an attachment back and forth in a straight line, so you can lie back and go hands-free. You set the speed, the stroke length (on some models), and the angle. It is the most common type of sex machine and the cheapest way to start.

What stroke length do I need?

Stroke length is how far the attachment travels on each thrust. Machines in this guide range from 1.8 in (Hismith Pro Traveler 2.0) to just over 5 in (Hismith Premium 4.0). Beginners and anal play usually suit shorter strokes. If you know you like depth, look for an adjustable stroke so you can grow into it.

What do KlicLok, 3XLR, and Vac-U-Lock mean?

They are attachment connectors. KlicLok is Hismith's quick-swap system, 3XLR is a three-pin connector used by Auxfun and others, and Vac-U-Lock is Doc Johnson's plug-style system, which Lovense also supports with included adapters. They are not cross-compatible without adapters, so pick the system with the attachments you want.

Are thrusting machines loud?

Most makers do not publish a noise figure. Two in this guide do: Auxfun lists its Basic at 40 to 60 dB, and Lovense lists its Sex Machine at 61 dB. If noise matters, favour machines with a published number and a decent returns window.

Before you buy

Check the connector before buying extra attachments, use plenty of water-based lube, start at the slowest speed, and put the machine on a surface that can't slide. Boring advice. Saves bruises.

Stay curious, stay lubed. x Rox
